Route description
This protected site is classified as a natural reserve, reachable only by canoe or by hiking. Paddling down the stunning gorges of the Ardeche in France is a world-class kayaking experience. Come in the summer for some lazy, sunny days on the river or, if you have a bigger taste for adventure, visit earlier in the year in spring for some faster flowing waters. Pass under the Pont D’Arc, a majestic natural stone bridge of 60 meters high and step into the deep gorges surrounded by cliffs reaching 300 meters in height and shape meander interspersed with numerous rapids. These are 32 km of wilderness to discover all along the river. With loads of equipment hire shops and guided tours available, this is a river geared up for kayaking.
